Obituary for Richard W. "Dick" Miller

Richard W. "Dick" Miller
Richard “Dick” W. Miller, 72 of Coldwater passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at his home.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, July 8th at the Coldwater United Methodist Church with the family receiving friends from 12:00 – 3:00 PM. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Richard was born December 27, 1944 to Robert and Vera (Forrister) Miller in Battle Creek. After graduation from Coldwater High School, he started his long working career at Midwest Foundry where he became a millwright. Dick worked there until the foundry closed. He worked at Walker Manufacturing in Litchfield for a short time before being hired at Post where he worked until retiring on January 1, 2012. On November 18, 1967 he married Suzanne Chene in Coldwater. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2016.

Dick was a man of faith and a long-time member at St. Charles Catholic Church. He had many hobbies including fishing, boating, golfing, and snowmobiling. Dick was an avid Detroit Lions & Tigers and University of Michigan sports fan. He and Suzanne loved to dance, go on dinner cruise parties on the lake, and play cards with friends. They always had a project that needed to be finished and were known as “Okey Dokey Construction”. Dick will be remembered as a generous, giving, loving, and helpful man. His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Miller is survived by his children Mary (Raymond) Herendeen, and Bob (Shannon) Miller all of Coldwater; his brother Loren (Janet) Miller of Virginia; his grandchildren Kevin Herman, Nathan & Nick Herendeen all of Coldwater special niece Missy (Todd) Lane and their daughter Brittany of Tekonsha; and his cat “Buddy”. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Suzanne; and his brother David Miller.
