Winifred L. "Winnie"  Kirk
Winifred “Winnie” L. Kirk, 85, of Coldwater, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 surrounded by her family at home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard Township. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 11:00 until 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Winnie was born November 11, 1931 to Okla and Marie (Miller) Booher in Albany, Kentucky. During her senior year at Quincy High School she married Donald D. Kirk on September 28, 1949 in Angola, Indiana and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2010.
Winnie worked with the physically handicapped at Coldwater Community Schools for 7 years and then went to work for the Coldwater Regional Center for 19 years as a kitchen supervisor, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the Classy Sassy’s Red Hat Ladies Club. She enjoyed spending winters in Winter Haven, Florida, having coffee with friends at McDonalds, her monthly meeting with her high school friends as well as meeting with retired employees at the Michigan State Employees Retirement Association, watching the Detroit Tigers, cooking and raising her family. Winnie played on the first female basketball team at Quincy High School. She will be remembered for her independence and helping of others.
Winnie is survived by her children; Dona (Terry) Clark of Coldwater, Charles Kirk of Coldwater, Michael (Kathy) Kirk of Coldwater and Lisa (Bill) Bowerman of Quincy, her grandchildren; Staci (Rob) Klotz of Coldwater, Sheree (Chris) Silva of Quincy, Toby (Lisa) Kirk of Coldwater, Tyson (Nina) Kirk of Coldwater, Kyle (Amy) Kirk of Coldwater, Cory Kirk of Grand Rapids, Lindsey (Carlyle) Westendorp of Nashville and Bryce Bowerman of Quincy, her 13 great grandchildren and her brother David (Myrl) Booher of Quincy. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother John Booher.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Tibbit’s Opera House or the Quincy Museum.
