Obituary for Katharyn "Katie" Mulvaney

Katharyn “Katie” Mulvaney, 98, of Coldwater, formerly of Jackson, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at home.

The family will have a Memorial Mass Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Mark Vyverman officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at a later date in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Jackson.

Katharyn was born October 15, 1918 in Jackson, MI to John & Carrie (Rhines) Mulvaney. She graduated from St. John’s High School in Jackson and worked for Bell Telephone as an operator and then supervisor from 1942-1977.

Katie was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater and formerly St. Mary’s Church in Jackson. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, knitting, genealogy and ceramics. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Katie was very devoted to her family and they enjoyed spending time together, especially playing cards and games.

Katie is survived by her nieces and nephews Teresa “Teri” Cohen of Coldwater, Norman (Sandra) Guillemette of Durham, NC, Sharon (Michael) Thompson of Mason, Jeffery (Janet) Guillemette of Cement City, Stephen (Francine) Guillemette of Deland, FL, Roberta Bryant, Susan Weston, Trudy Weston, John (Debbie) Mulvaney, and William (Sue) Mulvaney, all of Jackson; 47 great nieces and nephews; 37 great, great nieces and nephews, and 3 great, great, great nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Alice Mulvaney, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Arda Mulvaney, and sister and brother-in-law Marion and Alfred Guillemette, and nephew, Nathan Cohen.
