Obituary for James C. "Jim" Reed

James C. "Jim"  Reed
James “Jim” Clyde Reed Jr., 75, of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 with his loving wife by his side. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Clint Zehr officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson. Interment will be held at a later date.
Jim was born on November 17, 1941 to James Clyde Sr. and Cora M. (Torey) Reed in Coldwater.
He entered the United States Army on December 1, 1966 and was honorably discharged on November 11, 1968 having attained the rank of SF 4. Jim married Winnifred “DeeDee” Henley on November 12, 1967 in Arlington, Virginia. He was employed as an inside salesman at Medler Electric Co. in Battle Creek from January 1989 until his retirement in 2009. Prior to Medler Electric Co., he was employed for 27 years at Denton Mills in Centerville moving up to knitting supervisor by the time the plant closed in 1988. He was a member of St. Joseph County Conservation & Sportsman Club. Jim loved to hunt deer, turkey, coyote and raccoons. He enjoyed watching car shows on TV and fixing things around the house. He is survived by his wife of 49.5 years DeeDee of Sherwood; his son, Kenneth “Ken” J. Reed of Sturgis; his granddaughter, Shanna L. Reed of Sturgis; his nephew, Clyde (Sally) Kelly of Auburn, Indiana and his niece, Judy Roisland of Coldwater. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his half sister, Mary Strobel.
