Judy Kay Cook, 67, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service celebrating Judy’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Free Methodist Church in Coldwater. Visitation will take place prior to the memorial service, beginning at 12 Noon at the church. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Judy was born October 31, 1949 in Monroe to Raymond and Hazel (Stuck) Cook Sr. After graduating from Union City High School, she attended Southwestern Michigan College attaining her LPN Degree.
Judy had worked at the Coldwater State Hospital and at area nursing homes and hospitals as a LPN. She most recently worked at Exam One as a Home Health Insurance Examiner. Judy also worked as an Income Tax Preparer.
She volunteered with local blood drives, the homeless shelter and at Tibbits Opera House. She was a member of the Coldwater Sweet Adeline’s. Judy enjoyed playing Euchre at the Burnside Center, going to casinos and concerts, crocheting, playing the organ, piano and clarinet. She had a large collection of Barbie dolls and other collectible dolls. Above all else, Judy loved being with her entire family.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her father Raymond Cook, Sr. of Coldwater; her mother Hazel (Virgil) Bowerman of Union City; her daughter Theresa Bailey of Thomson, Georgia; her son Russell (Sherry) Childress of Flint; her siblings William “Bill” (Dell) Cook of Union City; Linda (Jeff) Carter of Battle Creek, Raymond “Ray” (MaryAnn) Cook, Jr. of Quincy, Deborah “Debbie” (Carnie) Camp of Auburn, Indiana, David Cook of Union City, Jerry (Amy) Cook of St. Joseph, Illinois, Robert “Bob” (Sherry) Cook of Union City, and Sheryl Harrington of Angola, Indiana; her grandchildren Katelyn, Ashley, Mikalah, Nicole, Christian, Dawn, Carlos, Miguel; her great grandchildren Adrianna, Elijah, and Izebella; she is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
