Michael J. Kunert, 68, of Coldwater, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Coldwater Bible Chapel, 122 S. Jefferson St., Coldwater. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Michael was born March 17, 1948 in Detroit, MI to Aloysius & Marjorie (Weins) Kunert and served in the US Army. Michael married Patricia (Scantlen) Norton February 28, 1992 in Coldwater.
Mr. Kunert had a great love of cooking and spent most of his life as a chef for many local restaurants. He spent several years in the upper peninsula where he was also a chef, before coming back to the Coldwater area. He worked a short time at the former A & P grocery store.
Mike was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous. He dedicated much of his time to the organization, providing service and helping others.
Mike is survived by his wife Pat, his step children Tricia (Sean) Speed of College Station, TX, Steve (Sherry) Norton, Dan (Marcia) Norton, Lynette Norton all of Coldwater, his brother Ken Kunert, 12 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.
