Obituary for Burniece R. McClelland

Burniece Ruth McClelland, 94 of Bronson passed away peacefully Monday, March 13, 2017 at her home while surrounded by family.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Monday, March 20, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Terry Siler from First Congregational Church of Bronson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. A private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lawton.

Burniece was born March 6, 1923 to Grant and Martha (Belhke) Nicholson in Lawton, MI. On June 5, 1943 she married the love of her life John “Richard” McClelland in Lawton. They spent 70 years happily married before Richard’s death.

Burniece was active in the Bronson Methodist Church and choir. She had formerly danced with the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club. Burniece was an avid supporter of the Tibbits Theater. She belonged to the Audubon Society and was pro-active in conservation & preservation. Burniece loved the outdoors and spent time reforesting a 10 acre property. She enjoyed family, traveling and fly fishing.

Burniece McClelland is survived by her son David (Linda) McClelland of Dowling, MI; her grandchildren Todd (Donna) McClelland of Grand Rapids, Jeff McClelland of Coldwater; 5 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J. Richard; and 5 siblings.
