Obituary for Roger D. Barnes

Roger D. Barnes, 80, of Bronson, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
The funeral will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Bronson with Pastor Tim Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at Sorter Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 2 - 5:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Roger was born February 12, 1937 in Ovid Twp. to Melvin & Ruth (Bussing) Barnes. He graduated from Bronson High School and served in the US Army from 1959-1961. Roger attended both Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Minnesota and Divinity School in Florida.
Mr. Barnes spent many years as a minister in Colorado, coming back to Bronson in the early 1980’s, where he worked at Assembly Service.
Roger was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bronson and enjoyed studying Theology and reading the Bible. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. Roger was a quiet, unassuming man who loved family. His goal in life was genuinely to help and serve others.
Roger is survived by his siblings Joy (Bill) Ward of Bronson, John (Gail) Barnes of Sterling Heights, Max (Norine) Barnes of Sturgis, sisters-in-law Betty Barnes of Coldwater, Rose Barnes of Bronson, many nieces and nephews and good friend Marty Crabill. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Richard (Marjorie) Barnes, Donald (Mary) Barnes, Jeanette (Loren) Newberry, Joan (James) Stout, Charles (Rubye) Barnes.
