Obituary for John J. Shiery

John J. Shiery, 82, of Coldwater, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 12 Noon at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with William Heffner officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 1-3:00 and 5-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
John was born October 9, 1934 in Bethel Township, MI to John and Francis (Gorman) Shiery. He served honorably in the US Army Reserves in the early 1960’s.
John drove truck and then became shipping manager for Midwest Foundry working from 1963-1971. His love of the sport of bowling inspired him to purchase Midway Lanes Bowling Alley in 1965 and then the bar/restaurant in 1971, his love continued by teaching and being involved with junior bowling. He owned and operated Midway Lanes until selling the business in January of 2016.
Mr. Shiery was a former member of the Coldwater Eagles. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed sports, especially golf and softball. John was very social and loved to interact with others.
John is survived by his children Timothy (Joyce) Shiery of Union City, Terry (Diane) Shiery, Susan (Dennis) Herman, Sandra Jo Shiery all of Coldwater, his grandchildren Jessica (Timothy) Fox, Zachary (Sarah) Shiery, Michael Shiery, Bradley Shiery, Mindy (Jacob) Smith, Chris (Rochelle) Longrey, Cortney Longrey, Cody Longrey, Ashlee Mefford, Alec Keplinger, Noella Keplinger, great grandchildren Piper & Cohen Fox, Jaxson Shiery, Aidan Miller, Tristan Smith, Delilah Smith, nephews and nieces Tom (Abby) Shiery, Sean (Leah) Shiery, Jordan, Madison and Audrey Shiery. He was preceded in death by his sisters Delores and Shirley Shiery,
