Alfred J. Shauger, 81, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Community Health Center of Branch County. No services will be held at this time, arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Alfred was born October 14, 1935 in Blairstown, New Jersey to Leslie & Edna (Lauer) Shauger. He married Janet M. Taylor October 3, 1970 in Wanaque, NJ.
Mr. Shauger worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He retired from Riverdale Quarry in Riverdale, NJ in 1998. Al and his wife came to Coldwater in 2003 to be near family. He was an outdoorsman who loved yard work and flower gardening. He enjoyed building and was always creating a new project around the house.
In addition to his wife Janet, Al is survived by his daughter Barbara (Dave) Roderick and his grandson David Roderick of Bronson, his daughters Stella (Mike) Burnett and Suzanne Cron, and his son Alfred (Grace) Shauger, Jr. all of Lawton, OK, his daughter-in-law Billie Jo Shauger, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, his brother Richard (Pat) Rogers of Oak Ridge, NJ, and half- sister Pat (Ron) Morgan of Georgia.
