Mae Irene Mavis, 95, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at her home.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Northview Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Bream officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. Arrangements have been cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Mae was born June 9, 1921 in Auburn, IN to Clarence & Rose Mae (King) Magginnis. She married Darrell W. Mavis on August 9, 1956, he preceded her in death February 6, 2011.
Mrs. Mavis was a Licensed Practical Nurse, primarily working in geriatrics. She worked in private care for several years and also spent many years at the former Carriage Inn Convalescent Center in Coldwater.
Mae was a member of Northview Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening and had a great love of animals. Mae loved music and was a gifted singer, performing with the Coldwater Sweet Adelines.
Mae is survived by her children Dale (Roberta) Parkison of St. Joe, IN, Larry (Dianne) Parkison of Union City, Rose Mavis of Coldwater, her siblings Martha Miller of LaGrange, IN, Esther Nofzinger of Ft. Wayne, IN, Oliver Magginnis of Phoenix, AZ, Janet Gall of Ft. Wayne, IN, her grandchildren Brian, Lori, Kristin, Adam, Tyler, Valerie, Brandon and Michelle and many great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son Jerry Parkison, and brothers Junior and Wilmer Magginnis.
