Larry Wayne Friedel
Larry Wayne Friedel, 73 of Bronson passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 11, 2016 while at home.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Samuel Gordy from First United Methodist Church of Bronson officiating. In following Larry’s wishes, cremation will take place after the service. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home in Bronson.
Larry was born September 27, 1943 to Harold and Evelyn (Towers) Friedel in Bryan, OH. Early in life he moved to Bronson, where he graduated from Bronson High School. After graduation, he proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy & later the U.S. Army. He continued his service in the U.S. Army National Guard. Larry was a long-time short haul truck driver, working with many companies. On August 31, 1986 he married Vanita Lansford over Bronson while flying in a U.S. Army Reconnaissance airplane.
Larry was a very outgoing and social man. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He participated with the Bronson American Legion and had many hobbies. He loved riding his Harley. Larry also enjoyed working on old cars, being a “backyard” mechanic, and hunting. His true joy in life was spoiling his grandkids. Larry will be remembered as a man who was a kid at heart, was very giving with his time, and an animal lover. He will be missed by many.
Mr. Friedel is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vanita Friedel of Bronson; his children Laurie (Philip) Markham of Ionia, Leah Friedel of Bronson, Lonnie Friedel of Bronson; Jennie (Ed) Russell of South Bend, Belenda (Mark) Minton of Apollo, PA, and Melenda (Gerald) Keegan of Montgomery; his sisters Peggy Bishop of Bryan, OH, Sara Jane Sweet of Stryker, OH, and Mitzi Gary of Edgerton, OH; his brother Dennis Friedel of Angola; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; several nieces & nephews; his cat “Kitty” and his dog “Lilly”. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Randolph and Eric Friedel; his sister Susie Friedel; and his infant brother Ned Allen Friedel.
