Obituary for Marian R. Bell

Marian R. Bell
Marian Rosalin Bell, 78 of Bronson passed away peacefully Thursday, December 01, 2016 while at her home with family.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson with Chuck Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Bronson Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM.

Marian was born June 26, 1938 to Richard and Charlotte (Paddock) Gallop in Coldwater. After graduation from Coldwater High School, she married the love of her life, Douglas Bell on August 19, 1956 in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2004. Marian was a hardworking bookkeeper for many years. She worked for Holt Business Center, Hathaway Insurance, and Max Larsen Ford before taking a position with Branch County Head Start where she worked until retirement in 2000.

Marian was a woman with many interests. She enjoyed playing cards, was a veracious reader, and the family photographer. Marian liked watching TV westerns and taking casino bus trips. In her younger years, Marian loved to go out with family and friends. In 1982, Douglas and Marian moved to the country in Bronson where they purchased 11 acres and created “Oak Knoll”. Marian really liked to spend time watching the birds and wildlife at her home. She was also very fond of Christmas, and liked to have her tree up right after Thanksgiving and extending well into the new-year. Marian’s true joy in life was being with her family, especially her grandchildren baking cookies. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Bell is survived by her sons Kim Bell of Bronson and Brad (Tonja) Bell of Coldwater; her daughter Julie Bell of Bronson; her brother Richard (Rosemary) Gallop of Fruitland, FL; her granddaughters Valery Bell of FL, Katie Smith of Grand Rapids, Lynsey Bell of Charlotte, NC, and Jordan Bell of Coldwater; her great grandson Justin Douglas Haddox of FL; her nephews David, Todd, and Cary Gallop all of FL; and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Douglas; and her sister-in-law Carolyn Gallop.
