Obituary for Marilyn J. Littley

Marilyn J.  Littley
Marilyn J. Littley, 81 of Coldwater passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Maple Lawn.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 28, at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy with Pastor Frank Snyder officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 5-8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Marilyn was born March 16, 1935 to Harold and Helen (Decker) Robinson in Orleans, MI. After graduation from high school, she continued her education at Western Michigan University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. Marilyn taught elementary classes starting in 1955 in Smyrna and then in Ionia, Lowell, and Grattan before moving to Coldwater in 1963 where she taught at each of the elementary schools throughout her career. She retired from the Coldwater school system in 1993. On June 16, 1962 she married the love of her life, Lyman “Ted” Littley in Belding. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2013.

Marilyn was a longtime resident of Coldwater and an active member of the Cavalry Baptist Church in Quincy. She was also very involved in the Kiwanis Club. Marilyn had many hobbies and interests including sewing, reading, traveling, and camping with her family. Her true joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Over the years Marilyn touched many lives and will be remembered as a selfless, patient, and giving woman who loved all children.

Mrs. Littley is survived by her children James (Annette) Littley of Hillsdale and Steven (Julia) Littley of Coldwater; her brother Richard Robinson of Portland, MI; her sister Elaine (Duane) Hansen of Greenville; her grandchildren Ryan Littley of Hillsdale, Sara (Kyle) Viers of Montpelier, OH, Cody Littley of Austin, TX, Jaycie Littley of Grand Rapids, Austin Littley of East Lansing, and Mariah Littley of Leipzig, Germany; her great grandchildren Johnathan, Isaac, and Jackson Viers; many nieces & nephews; and her good friend Linda VanWormer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ted; her sister Gayla Robinson; and her sister-in-law Betty Robinson.
