Donald L. Cockrell, 86, of Coldwater, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Maple Lawn.
The funeral will be Monday, October 24, 2016 at 12 Noon at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Holt officiating. Interment will follow at Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Donald was born January 8, 1930 in Coldwater, MI to Orley & Dorothy (Mundy) Cockrell. He married Nina Spaulding December 20, 1947, she preceded him in death on July 6, 2005. He then married Beth Johnson on May 13, 2006 in Coldwater.
Mr. Cockrell was a mechanic for 35 years at the former Harry Taylor Chevrolet, which later became Jay’s. He then worked for Denoyer Chevrolet, until retiring in 1990. After retirement, he worked for Salga in Fremont, IN.
Don was a former member of General Motors Service Guild and the CB Club. He was an outdoorsman who loved working on his farm, making hay and fixing old tractors.
Don is survived by his wife Beth, his sons Daniel (Irene) Cockrell of Kenefic, OK, David Cockrell of Quincy, his grandchildren Mark Malitz, Jeremy Cockrell, Jessica Dosier, Dusty Flanders, great grandchildren Chase, Theresa, Taylor, Blane, Brice, Skyler, Devin, Camryn, many stepchildren and step grandchildren and special friends and grandson Vin, Elaine and Delmer Gray all of Coldwater. In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by his daughter Donna Malitz, 1 brother, 2 sisters and grandson Shawn Cockrell.
