Dorothy M. Corwin, 89, of Coldwater, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
The funeral service will be Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Knauss Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born March 22, 1927 in Quincy, MI to Ernest & Ethel (Blashfield) King. She married Donald C. Corwin on October 9, 1947 in Butler Township, he preceded her in death in August of 1998.
Mrs. Corwin graduated from Western MI University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught in the Coldwater Community School System for Lakeland School for over 30 years. She had also taught at the former California Corner’s School.
Dorothy was a dedicated wife and mother who spent much of her time helping on the family farm. She attended the former Kinderhook Congregational Church, where she played the piano and organ, and in recent years, Lockwood Community Church. Dorothy volunteered with the CHC Auxiliary and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening.
Dorothy is survived by her children Doug (DiAnn) Corwin of Fremont, Cindy (Jay) Johnson of Coldwater, Steve (Linda) Corwin of Muskegon, Deanna (Jude) Patnaude of Midland, her sister Doris (Bob) King of Ludington, her grandchildren Mark Corwin, Melinda (Matt) Snider, Laura (Ryan) Green, Katie (Matt) Kabelman, Thomas Patnaude, Melissa Corwin, Andrew Corwin, great grandchildren Brittany, Breanna, Brookelynn, Jayden, Ethan, Oliver, Owen and great, great granddaughter Aliyah. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother Richard King.
