David L. Aviza
Surrounded by his loving family, Dave's incredible 77-year adventure ended peacefully at his home when he quietly entered eternal life on Friday, July 22, 2016.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 4 - 8:00PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Coldwater First Baptist Church with Pastor David Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Mason Cemetery.
David Lee Aviza was born on June 7, 1939 in Quincy, MI to Konstant and Ruth (Dowell) Aviza. Dave married Janean (Cox) on August 3, 1981.
Dave attended Union City High School where he stood out as an exceptional all-around athlete lettering in several different sports. After Graduation from Union City in 1957, Dave enlisted in the United States Air National Guard serving as an aircraft mechanic for two years. After his service, Dave went to work for the State Home in Coldwater, MI.
In 1966 Dave found his true calling and obtained his Michigan Resident Insurance Agents License and began his storied insurance career working for Farm Bureau and Sentry Insurance Company's.
Eventually Dave opened his own independent insurance agency in Coldwater, MI. Dave successfully built his agency from the ground up and continued to be a part of the agency until 2016. Dave was a well-respected insurance agent and member of the local business community.
Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed a little bit of everything. He continued to play sports long after high school and was especially fond of fast pitch softball and baseball. Dave loved to fish and also played golf his entire life. Dave was an avid Photographer who found enjoyment in capturing moments of sporting activities, stage or musical productions, but especially those of his grandchildren.
Dave's most enjoyable moments in life could be found on the field as 'Coach'. Dave coached baseball, football & basketball. Dave served as President of the Coldwater Little League for a number of years while coaching his kids though various leagues of the organization. Dave found enjoyment in teaching youngsters not only the fundamentals of the game, but about teamwork, responsibility and honesty.
Dave was never without a smile and a story to tell. He valued his family, his friendships and loved living life to the fullest. Dave had a deep respect for others and always placed the needs of others before his own.
David is survived by his wife Janean, his children David Todd (Lauren) Aviza of Penfield, Pam (Gary) Havens of Grand Haven, Kevin Aviza, Ben (Amy) Eby, Jake (Lisa) Eby all of Coldwater, his half sister Barb Bernhal of Illinois, his grandchildren Tiffany LaJoie, Corey Aviza, Holly Havens, Andrew Havens, Isabelle Eby, Piper Eby, Jade Eby, Owen Eby, Gwen Eby and his great grandchildren Madison & Emma LaJoie.
