Obituary for Wilma D. Everett

Wilma D. Everett
Wilma Doris Olney-Everett, 86 of Girard passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Maple Lawn while surrounded by family.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Cydney Idsinga of Girard United Methodist Church officiating. A private interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM.

Wilma was born September 15, 1929 to Ernest and Cora (Dubendorf) Loose in Batavia Township. She was a lifelong resident of Branch County. Wilma graduated from Coldwater High School in 1947. On September 28, 1947 she married Leslie Olney in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1973. Several years later, Wilma married Lewis Everett on May 18, 1990 in Angola. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2004. Shortly after Leslie passed away, Wilma started working at Girard School in the cafeteria and also part time at Putman Funeral Home. In 1981, she took a position at Legg Middle School as a cook before retiring in 1991.

Wilma was very active woman in her younger years. She was a member of the Republican’s Women’s Party, a past Chairman of the Girard Republican Women, a member of the Branch County Farm Bureau and a past Chairman of the Farm Bureau Women. Wilma was also active with Branch County 4-H. Her true joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Everett is survived by her son Charles (Betsy) Olney of Tekonsha; her siblings Robert (Margaret) Loose of Tekonsha, Wilford “Red” (Elnore) Loose, Phyllis Wagar both of Coldwater; her sister-in-law Mary Olney of Coldwater; her grandchildren Daniel (Paula) Olney and Susan (Scott) Livingston; her great grandchildren Lance, Blake, and Seth Olney; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s Leslie and Lewis, and her baby sister Virginia Loose.
