Obituary for Russell Lawrence Anderson

Russell Lawrence Anderson, 86, of Coldwater, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 surrounded by his family at home.
Private funeral services have already been held according to Russell’s wishes. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Russell was born September 29, 1929 to Joseph and Lorena (Smith) Anderson in Albany, Indiana. He graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Russell enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on February 15, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was discharged on March 9, 1954 in Seattle, Washington where he received the National Defense, Korean Service and United Nations Service Medals.
Russell worked as an accountant for AMAX in Coldwater for 32 years, retiring in 1983. He was the plant controller when he retired.
He was a member of the Coldwater American Legion Post # 52. He enjoyed fishing, walking, coaching little league baseball, watching baseball especially the St. Louis Cardinals and watching college basketball and his favorite team,
the University of Indiana Hoosiers. More than anything Russell loved being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years Shirley M. (Belue) Anderson of Coldwater; his children Randy J. (Cynthia) Anderson of Coldwater, Michael L. Anderson of Petaluma, California, Phillip P. Anderson of Santa Rosa, California and Curtis L. Anderson of Coldwater; his grandchildren Jessica M. (Adam) Zabonick, Nicholas M. Anderson, Kelsey M. Anderson, Audrianna K. Anderson and Allison K. Anderson; his great grandchildren Keavyn Zabonick and Jett Zabonick; his brother Harry E. (Betty) Anderson of Muncie, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center, Kalamazoo.
