Obituary for Carole D. Maddox

Carole D.  Maddox
Carole Delores Maddox, 82, of Sturgis passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Sturgis Hospital while surrounded by family.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Terry Siler of First Congregational Church of Bronson officiating. A private interment of ashes will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.
Carole was born December 19, 1933 to Theodore and Amelia (Sleiva) Mealey in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Dearborn High School before beginning a long career as a Librarian. Carole worked at the Bronson Library for over 34 years before retiring. On August 16, 1954, she married the love of her life, Thomas Maddox in Angola.
Carole was a very dedicated woman. She was a long-time member and supporter of the Bronson Friends of the Library. Carole was an avid reader, where she used her knowledge playing scrabble, Jeopardy, and Trivial Pursuit. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and sewing. Carole’s true joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous woman who was always polite, funny, and ready to share a story. She will be missed by many.
Mrs. Maddox is survived by her children Deborah (Mark) Loper of Pasadena, TX, Michael Maddox of Fair Oaks, CA, Steven (Shelly) Maddox of Bronson, Donna (David) Young of Sturgis, Daniel (Annette) Maddox of Antelope, CA, and Carrie (Greg) Heator of Angola; her sisters Barbara (Joseph) Crocker of Orlando, FL and Eleanor Howard of Detroit; her grandchildren Robyn (Mike) Evans, Sarah (Alberto) Labarrera, Stacy (Matt) Hyska, Spencer (Elise) Maddox, Sawyer Maddox, Conner Young, Alex Young, Garrett (Erin) Heator, Kristen (Kevin) Burrows, Kayla (Travis) Williamson; her great grandchildren Emily Evans, Gaven Heator, and Ayva Maddox; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas, and her brother Theodore Mealey.
