Obituary for Carol Brown

Carol Brown, 73, of Quincy, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Grand Vista in Coldwater.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with family and Steve Riddle officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Carol was born April 13, 1943 to Clarence Ries and Elizabeth (Nowitzke) Stull in Trenton. After graduating from Romulus High School in 1961 she attended and graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
She was married to David Brown Sr. for 55 years. Carol taught at Quincy High School and then worked at the family business in Quincy.
She was a member of the Christian Science Church in Hillsdale, the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston, the Friends of the Library in Quincy and the Nika Club in Quincy. Carol coordinated the I’am Special Program in area schools and she was a foster parent for many years. She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, sporting events, being a fan of Detroit sports teams and Nascar.
Carol is survived by her husband David Sr. of Quincy; her children, David Brown Jr. of Quincy, Dawn (Jim) Supianoski of Quincy, Jeff Brown of Monroe, LeeAnn (Steve) Brown-Hugenell of Hanover and Michael (Kristi) Brown of Quincy; her 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; her siblings, Scott (Mary) Ries of Chandler, Arizona, Fred Ries of Phoenix, Arizona, Suzanne Gregory-Ries of Cave Creek, Arizona and Patty Ries of Angola, Indiana.. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Shari Sharply-Brown.
