Obituary for Lowell L. Pifer

Lowell L. Pifer, 78, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at his home.
The funeral service will be Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Harold Jewell officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Lowell was born May 11, 1937 in Coldwater, MI to Fred & Ilah (Hayes) Pifer. He married Jane Burns on March 11, 1962 in Coldwater.
Mr. Pifer worked for 34 years for the CBPU, water/sewer division until his retirement in 1996. He then worked with his brother for 13 years at Pifer’s Septic Service.
Lowell served as a volunteer firefighter for the Coldwater Department for 10 years. He enjoyed sports, playing co-ed softball, horseshoes and hunting. He was an avid racing fan, especially dirt late model racing, and watching his son and grandson race. Lowell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Many knew and enjoyed visiting with Lowell, while he sat on the bench at the entrance of Wal Mart.
Lowell is survived by his wife Jane, his children Mark (Bertha) Pifer, Tammy (Richard) Pifer all of Coldwater, his siblings Martha (Marvin) Stetler, Bob (Stella) Pifer, Linda (Rick) Hooker all of Coldwater, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Larry Pifer, his granddaughter Lacey Jo (Pifer) Gaul, brothers and sister Bill Pifer, Ed Pifer and Margaret Snyder.
