Leona M. Simons, 77, of Coldwater, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 11 AM at the funeral home.
Leona was born September 21, 1938 in Montgomery, MI to Reno & Phyllis (Pairan) Champion. She married Donald B. Simons on August 26, 1961 in Jackson, MI.
Leona had been the personnel manager at the Coldwater Kmart for several years and then worked for the former Salga Corporation in Fremont, IN. She attended St. Charles Borromeo Church and served as past president of the Coldwater American Legion Auxiliary. Leona loved the outdoors, especially yardwork and flower gardening. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Leona is survived by her husband Don, her children Donna Mae (Gary) Abbeg of Litchfield, Margie Howard of Elkhart, IN, Donnie (Jannene) Simons of Quincy, Brenda (Ray) Hoard of Burr Oak, Vanessa (Steve) Feasel of Decatur, IN, Chris (Carroll) Simons of Coldwater, her brothers Larry (Joyce) Champion of Burr Oak, Robert Champion of Coldwater, 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Harry Simons and brother Ron Champion.
