Obituary for Viola Mae Cook

Viola Mae  Cook
Viola Mae Cook, 87 of Coldwater passed away on Friday, April 01, 2016 at Maple Lawn.

A funeral service will take place at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Evangelist Arlin Gates of the Church of Christ in Bronson officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Viola was born March 26, 1929 to John and Irene (Barchenger) Little in Melrose, MN. After graduation from high school, she married Clarence Dirschell on November 15, 1947 in Sauk Center, MN. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1973. Viola later met and married Raymond Cook on September 4, 1981. She worked for the Regional Center in Coldwater for many years prior to retiring.

Viola was a very active woman. She loved spending time at the lake, especially people watching from her dining room. Viola seemed to always have a camera in hand taking photos of family, friends, flowers, and items of interest. She relished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Viola will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was a good listener, storyteller, and provider of wisdom. She was a giving, compassionate, and caring person who did not judge. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband of 34 years, Raymond Cook of Coldwater; her children Steve (Jennifer) Dischell and Karen Dirschell all of Coldwater; her step-children Bill (Dell) Cook of Union City, Judy Cook of Coldwater, Raymond (Maryann) Cook, Jr. of Quincy, Linda (Jeff) Carter of Battle Creek, Deborah (Carney) Camp of Auburn, IN, Bobby (Sherry) Cook of Union City, Jerry Cook of Champaign, IL, David Cook of Wyoming, and Sheryl Harrington of Angola; her grandchildren Brent (Jodi) Cook, Seth (Koree) Dirschell, Carly (Jamie) Doll, Tosha (Jason) Hower, Joshua (Emily) Blount, Myles Dirschell, and many step-granchildren; her great grandchildren Ben Cook, Nicholas Cook, Breydyn Cook, Bryson Tappenden, Calvin Dirschell, Talan Doll, Liam Doll, Evelyn Doll, Haylee Leyo, Deegan Hower, Reagan Hower, Layla Blount, and many step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Clarence; her infant daughter Sharon Lee Dirschell; her brothers Robert, Clifford, and John Little; her sister Shirley Glockzin.
