Obituary for Rex B. Thacher

Rex B. Thacher, 90, of Coldwater, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Bronson Cemetery in Bronson, Michigan with Pastor Terry Siler officiating.
Rex was born February 9, 1925 to Jay and Hazel (Keyes) Thacher in Coldwater, Michigan. After graduating from Coldwater High School he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp. He married Jeanne Strong on December 24, 1943 in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death in 2011.
He started his working career at Homer Foundry after World War II and then he went to work for Federal Mogul in Coldwater. He became the head of maintenance for the Branch Area Career Center in Coldwater, retiring in 1986 after 15 years of service.
Rex was a member of Coldwater American Legion Post # 52 and Bronson VFW. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, tinkering with things and his neighbor’s as he was known as the” MAYOR” of East Alden St.
Rex is survived by his children, Gloria (Bob) Cary of Burr Oak and Rex B. Thacher of Bronson; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; his special friends, Becky and Jim Troust, Scott and CC Lippert, and Ceil and Curt McRae. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanne, his granddaughter Angela Cary and his brother Raymond Thacher.
