Obituary for Virginia L. Ernsberger

Virginia Lee Ernsberger, 71 of Coldwater passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Maple Lawn in Coldwater while surrounded by family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 19, 2015 from 3:00 PM - 8:00PM with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Virginia was born December 10, 1944 to Leonard and Flossie (Herman) Malovey in Coldwater. After graduation from Bronson High School in 1962, she started a long working career. She married John Ernsberger in June of 1967. Virginia began working at the Coldwater Hospital as an aide, before being employed with the Coldwater School System as a cook at Edison School for many years. She worked at Adapt, Inc. and then took a position with Head Start as part of the Foster Grandparents Program for 9 years.

Virginia was a woman of faith and a long-time member of St. Mary of Assumption Church. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles. Virginia always put her family first. Her true joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Virginia was very proud of her work with the Branch County Relay for Life. She supported Relay by raising funds and helping wherever needed during the event. Virginia will be remembered as a loving, helpful, and open hearted woman.

Ms. Ernsberger is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Tom) Back; her sister Beverly (Alan) Weaver; her grandchildren Destiny, Alyssa, Konner, and Lance Back; her great granddaughter Ava Toth; and her close family friend Patricia Himes-Fraley. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband John Ernsberger.
