Obituary for Darla D. Hart

Darla D. Hart, 67 of Coldwater passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital while surrounded by family.

A funeral service will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Dutcher Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral beginning at 12:00 Noon.

Darla was born July 6, 1948 to Douglas and Beulah Belle (Butcher) Mott in Coldwater. After graduation from Coldwater High School, she continued taking some college courses. On January 20, 1968 she married the love of her life Gerald “Gerry” Hart in Coldwater. Darla worked at Federal Mogul before becoming a secretary, working with Jay’s, Odren’s, and D & M Auto Repair before retiring.

Darla was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always put her family first, especially her grandchildren. Darla’s true passion in life was sprint car racing, where she was a team owner of Hartbreaker Motorsports. Early in Gerry’s racing career, they traveled to many different tracks throughout the Midwest. For the past several years, Darla enjoyed watching her husband and her son race at Butler Motor Speedway. Darla was affectionately known as the “Race Mom”. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and going to high school football games. Darla will be remembered as a loving, caring, and amazing woman who always had a big smile.

Mrs. Hart is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gerry Hart of Coldwater; her children Todd (Jessica) Hart of Auburn, IN, Micki Rankin of Coldwater, and Chad (Trink) Hart of Coldwater; her grandchildren Tylar and Carly Rankin, Tabby and Dakota Sommers, Destiny Darlene, Michael, and Shawn Hart, Keller, Skylar, Chandler, and Alic Haas; her sister-in-law & friend Helen Hart and many other good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
