Obituary for Howard W. Haas

Howard  W.  Haas
Howard William Haas, 75 of Coldwater passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at his home.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Kelly Hadlich of Battle Creek Friends Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral beginning at 11:00 AM.

Howard was born October 21, 1939 to Howard W. and Florence (Becker) Haas in Wauseon, OH. He was the Plant Manager of Coldwater Rendering for many years before retiring in 1992. Howard was a very good maintenance and repair man, returning to the plant during all hours to help problem solve plant issues. He was the Chaplain at the Coldwater Eagles.

Howard had a passion for all things with motors. He especially enjoyed cars, snowmobiles, going up north and being in his pole barn tinkering. Howard was known by many as “Chief”. He was fond of spending time outdoors. His main love was spending time with family and good friends. Howard will be missed by many.

“Chief” is survived by his mother Florence Barnes of Coldwater; his daughter Carla Cruz of Ceresco; his siblings George Haas of Coldwater; Barb Darby of San Diego, CA, and Becky (Vern) VanWhy of Sandusky, OH; his grandchildren Tanner and Keely Cruz of Ceresco, Brittnee and Aubree Haas of Coral Springs, FL; many nieces and nephews; good friend and fellow handyman Tony Diyer. He was preceded in death by his father; his step-dad Edgar “Bud” Barnes; and his son A.J. Haas.
