Obituary for Kathleen Emilie Dunny

On Saturday,September 5, 2015, Kathleen Emilie (Provot) Dunny, 57, of Coldwater, died peacefully at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility, surrounded by her large and devoted family. She had an amazing love for life and people, and she delighted in the simple things. Her smile was infectious and her sweet nature brought joy to all who knew her. It has been said of Kathy, “If she met you once, you were a friend for life.”

Born February 4, 1958 in Highland Park, Michigan to Alvin F. and Marie Therese (LeBlanc) Provot, she was the seventh of eleven children. She graduated from Bad Axe High school in 1976 and worked for The Firestone Seatbelt factory and Murphy’s Bakery in Bad Axe, then moved to Madison Heights where she worked at the Oakland Mall, and eventually to Coldwater, where she provided childcare for many children.

Kathy is survived by her mother Therese Provot of Coldwater; two sons, Nicholas (Sabrina) Vuillemot of Charlevoix and Joshua Dunny of Coldwater; one daughter, Emilie Dunny of Coldwater, and Kathy’s former husband, Keith Dunny; three brothers, Michael (Barbara) Provot of Canton, Michigan, Patrick (Donna) Provot of Concord, Ohio, and Philip (Theresa) Provot of Coldwater; seven sisters, Marie (Keith) Lippincott of Egg Harbor, New Jersey; Christine (Scott) McMillin of Sturgis, Helyn (John) Castle of Coldwater, Susan (Joseph) Sobeske of Coldwater, Karen (James) Sobeske of Coldwater, Marguerite (Joe) Duke of Bronson, and Judy (Robert) Brombach of Almont, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear father, Deacon Al Provot.

Visitation will take place at the Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 3:00 until 8:00 pm. Rosary will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm, led by Kathy’s brother-in-law, Joseph Sobeske.

Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Kathleen Dunny will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater with Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater.
