Obituary for Ronald L. Kurtz

Ronald “Ron” L. Kurtz, 75, of Bronson passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in Gilead Township.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Terry Siler of the First Congregational Church of Bronson officiating. In following Ron’s wishes, cremation will take place after the service. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. at the funeral home.
Ronald was born November 2, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Herbert and Pauline (Hoover) Kurtz. He graduated from North Side High School in Fort Wayne. Ron met Marilyn Hathaway at Gilead Lake and they married on October 4, 1961 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Ron worked at the A&P and Kroger stores as a meat manager, and had also worked at Eckrich in Quincy. Mr. Kurtz was an avid sports fan, and a Bobby Knight Fan. He loved his family, fun times at the lake, gardening, wearing hats and traveling to Florida. He especially loved fishing and was known as “The Fisherman.”
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his children, Ronald (Tammy) Kurtz of Coldwater, Michael (Kimberly) Kurtz of Park Ridge, IL, and Kelly Kurtz of Ann Arbor, his brother Tom Kurtz of Ft. Wayne, His grandchildren Kourtney Kurtz, R.J. Kurtz, Kevin Kurtz, Cameron, Steven, and Kylie Kurtz, his brother in law Rod Hathaway, sister in laws Janet Hathaway and Phyllis Sawley, many good friends and the family dog Kennedy.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
