Doris Marie Mears, 85 of Coldwater passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.

A graveside funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM (CST) on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi, IL. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Doris was born April 4, 1930 to Louis and Lela (Dorris) Mitchell in Aiken, SC. On December 27, 1951 she married Doyle “Jay” Mears in Waukegan, IL. Doris was a life-long homemaker. She was a former member of the Georgia General Baptist Church in Carmi, IL prior to moving to Coldwater in 1970 when Jay was transferred to Federal Mogul.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time in her home. Doris was a great cook and never used recipes. She was fond of going to garage sales, where she would find dolls and other antiques for her collection.

Mrs. Mears is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jay Mears of Coldwater; her daughter Judy Foulke of Coldwater; her half-brother Gene (Faye) Mitchell of Providence, KY; her grandchildren Jody (Geoff) Witte of Brighton and Emily (C.J.) White of Hillsdale; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
