Obituary for Franklin Johnson

Franklin “Frank” Lyle Johnson, 82 of Union City passed away on Wednesday, March 25 at Care Community in Springfield.

A funeral service will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 29 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Peter Iwankiw of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church officiating. A private interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be prior to the funeral on Sunday beginning at 1:00 PM.

Franklin was born June 30, 1932 to Howard and Irene (Fox) Johnson in Coldwater. Frank worked his entire career as a farmer, retiring in 1995. On August 10, 1957 he married the love of his life Marilyn Middaugh in Kalamazoo.

Frank was a very religious family man. He was a long-time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Burlington. Frank enjoyed bible study with church friends. He had many hobbies including gardening, mushroom hunting, tinkering with and fixing lawn mowers, and horses. He also collected Western items and arrowheads in which he either found on the farm or at flea markets in the area. Frank will be remembered as a quiet man and will be missed by many.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his children Tammy (Ted) Hamlin of Sherwood, Teresa (Joseph) Moore of Union City, and Tina Aldrich of Battle Creek; his sister Rita Salyer of Union City; his brother Hal Johnson of Coldwater; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years Marilyn Johnson; his infant son Stephen Johnson; his infant daughter Penny Johnson; and his brother Melvin Johnson.
