Arthur E. "Art"  Smoker
Arthur “Art” Eugene Smoker, 91 of Bronson passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Marshall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 26, 2015 at St. Mary’s of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bronson, where the Colon American Legion will provide military honors. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson.

Arthur was born October 3, 1923 to Vern and Clara (Sikorski) Smoker in Bronson. After graduation from Colon High School in 1942, Art proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and Marines during World War II. On October 17, 1953 he married Mary Ann Kregger at St. Mary’s in Bronson. Art worked for Ross Laboratories in Sturgis for 25 years, retiring in 1988.

Art was a life member at St. Mary’s and a long-time member of the Colon American Legion. He was an avid reader of sports and war history books. Art also enjoyed watching sports. He followed the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals, but his main team was the Bronson Vikings. His true joy was his family. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. Art was proud of his Bronson community, where he helped neighbors and friends when needed. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Smoker is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Smoker of Bronson; his children Doug (Kami) Smoker, Carol (Jeff) Bucklin of Bronson, Karen Smoker of Marshall, Ramona (Dave) Benham of Marshall, and Mark (Susan) Smoker of Alma; his grandchildren Amanda (Matt) Swaim, Alison Smoker, Aaron (Amanda) Bucklin, Ryan (Samantha) Bucklin, Brett Schroeder, Morgan and Mackenzie Benham, Meghan and Maryssa Smoker; his great grandchildren Audrina, Addyson, Vandria, Ellerie, and Karagen Bucklin; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters.
