Obituary for Rodney W. "Rusty" Esterline

Rodney W. "Rusty" Esterline
Rodney “Rusty” Wayne Esterline, 68, of Coldwater, passed away on March 13, 2015 at his home.

In following Rusty’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Rodney was born February 5, 1947 to Theryll “T” and Marian (Helmick) Esterline in Hillsdale. He grew up in Reading graduated from Reading High School, and attended Ferris State University. He married the love of his life Connie Elliott on September 10, 1966 in Coldwater. He spent 34 years working as the “Culligan Man” in both Hillsdale and Coldwater, retiring in 2011.

Rusty was very active in the Reading community where he was a founding Father of the Reading Emergency Unit and also served as a volunteer member of the Reading Police Department for 10 years. His main passion was fishing. Rusty was a member of Bass Unlimited of Branch County, the Thursday Night Lake Drive Marina League, and the Director of the Hook Setters Bass Tour. He also enjoyed having his daily coffee with the morning crew at the Goodie Shop in Coldwater and hanging out with his fishing buddies. However, his true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Esterline is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie Esterline of Coldwater; his children Jody (Michele) Esterline of Quincy and Jennifer Esterline of San Francisco, Ca; his sister Jean (Duane) Fuller of Jonesville; his grandchildren Abbi Fuller, Bethany Esterline, and Megan Esterline; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack Esterline.
