A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater with Pastor Aaron Chittick officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5-8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Donald was born May 13, 1940 in Monroe, MI to John & Mildred (Schroeder) Specht. He married Bonnie J. Stiles on May 27, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio.
Mr. Specht served 6 years in the Army National Guard. He began his lifelong career as a Grocer for Bellman’s Grocery in Toledo. After just a few years he went to work for A&P in Toledo as the assistant manager. He came to the Coldwater A&P in 1965, where he became store manager for many years, even as it transitioned to Farmer Jack. He went to the Canton, MI Farmer Jack for 7 years, and returned to the Coldwater store until it closed and retired from the Farmer Jack in Marshall. Don truly loved his job and thoroughly enjoyed the many people he met throughout his career.
Don was a longtime member of the Reformation Lutheran Church and most recently at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater. He was a member of the Coldwater Elks and a former member of the Lion’s Club. He spent many years, along with his wife, dancing in the Merry Mixer’s Square Dance Club and enjoyed hunting.
Don is survived by his wife Bonnie, his daughters Jeannine (Larry) Hayes of Quincy, Donna Milnes of DeWitt, his grandchildren Justin Hayes, Kayla Hayes, Taylor Milnes and Hannah Milnes. He was preceded in death by his brother.
