Wendell was born September 17, 1933 to Fay C. & Celestine Mae (Harter) Scott in Edon, OH. After graduation from Montpelier High School in 1952, Wendell enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean War. Williams in Pioneer, OH. They moved to Coldwater in 1970.

Wendell owned and operated Scott Farms Trucking for over 50 years. He also farmed in both Ohio and Coldwater for many years. He enjoyed going bowling, hunting, and tinkering in his barn.
