Winifred B. "Winnie"  Shaw
Winifred “Winnie” Blanche Shaw, 82, of Hillsdale passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Kalamazoo.
In following Winnie’s wishes, she has been cremated and a memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. She will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard.
Winifred was born November 5, 1931 to Henry and Sarah (Meade) Bailey in Hillsdale. She was an excellent student and 1st in her class at South Central Michigan School of Practical Nursing. Winnie worked as an LPN for nine years at the Community Health Center of Branch County. She continued working in nursing until 2003 when she retired to enjoy life.
Winnie was very active in her younger days as a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, Coldwater Order of the Eastern Star, Coldwater 4-H, and the Allen Red Hat Club. She enjoyed spending time sewing, knitting, crocheting, and weaving. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
Winifred is survived by her children Catherine Miller of Homer, Wendy (Arthur) Borgert of Coldwater, George (Barbara) Shaw of Quincy, Elaine Shaw of Coldwater, and Fred Shaw of Coldwater; 15 grand-children and 19 great grand-children; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Richard L. Shaw; son Richard B. Shaw; sisters Agnes Rowe and Mary Jane Wilder; brother Henry Bailey; daughter-in-law Ronda Shaw; son-in-law Thomas “Sam” Miller.
