Obituary for Lucy Kolivosky Davenport

Lucy Kolivosky  Davenport
Lucy Kolivosky Davenport, 63 of Coldwater passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at her home, while surrounded by family.

A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Mark Vyverman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, September 15, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Lucy was born June 21, 1951 to Michael and Florence (Folmar) Kolivosky in Lansing. She graduated from Hillsdale College in 1973 and continued her education at Michigan State University, earning a Master’s of Secondary Education in 1975. Lucy began her teaching career at Reading High School, where she taught English for three years. She taught at Culver Military Academy for one year. Lucy completed her teaching career at Pittsford Area Schools, where she taught for 33 years, retiring in 2011. She married Warner “Skip” Davenport on November 8, 1986 in Hillsdale.

Mrs. Davenport was a loving wife, mother, and grand-mother. She was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Chi Omega Sorority & Alumni, and the National Council of Teachers of English. Lucy enjoyed spending time with her family. She liked shopping, traveling and entertaining friends. She will be missed by many.

Lucy is survived by her husband of 27 years Skip Davenport of Coldwater; her children Maria (Andrew) Cole of Kalamazoo, Sam Davenport of Coldwater, and Eric (Staci) Davenport of Coldwater; her brothers Michael Kolivosky of Howell and Mark (Jacqie) Kolivosky of Akron, OH; her sister Barbara (John) Martinen of Coldwater; her grand-children Alexa, Olivia, and Emmett Davenport; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
