Joyce I. Gilkison, 87, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
There will be no services held at this time.
Joyce was born October 20, 1926 in Sturgis, MI to Sherman & Florence (Brazier) Gilkison. She graduated from Sturgis High School and worked at Cameron Hospital in Angola, IN for 20 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Joyce has been a devout Jehovah’s Witness for over 50 years. She enjoyed sewing and flower gardening and loved dogs. Those who knew Joyce will remember her for her happy, outgoing personality; she could make one laugh but was known for her strong willed stubbornness.
Joyce is survived by her sisters and brother Ilene Nusbaum, Gladys Cullipher both of Sturgis, Rhoda Lantz of Centreville, Jannita Dewitt of Angola, Patricia Gilkison and Arthur Gilkison both of Coldwater, many nieces and nephews and her beloved Chihuahua Amy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Doreen Truax.
