Obituary for Leroy "Granger" Preston

Leroy "Granger"  Preston
Leroy “Granger” Preston, 84, of Coldwater passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Doug Preston and Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, July 21, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 & Tuesday prior to the funeral starting at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Leroy was born September 1, 1929 to Arthur and Fern (Wagner) Preston in Tekonsha. He married the love of his life Shirley A. Jasper on March 16, 1962 in Bryan, OH.
Granger was a member of both Bethel-Gilead Community Church and the First Baptist Church of Coldwater, where he worked with Shirley for 22 years. While with First Baptist, he led Bible Study Classes. He retired as a supervisor from the Michigan State Regional Center after 36 years of service.
Granger was well known for his tap dancing and playing the trumpet. He enjoyed teaching tap dancing and gave lessons for many years, even going to the Burnside Senior Center to pass on his skills. He was very proud of going back to school to finish his high school education, where he won honor student of the class.
Mr. Granger is survived by his children Douglas Preston, Robin Preston, and Tim Preston; his grand-children Jessica, Chantelle, Miranda, and Savannah; six great grand-children; and two step-children Mike & Michelle Stewart. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, and two sons Steve & Jeff Preston.
