Obituary for Edna Shaver

Edna Bell Shaver, 89 of Coldwater, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Quincy with Rev. Julia Yoder Elmore officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
Edna was born March 11, 1925 in Battle Creek, MI to Frank & Murial (Keller) Hartley. She graduated from Tekonsha High School as Class Valedictorian in 1943 and married Roland Buys on October 9, 1943. He preceded her in death in Sept. of 1976. She later married Elmer Shaver in 1993, he also preceded her in death in 1996.
Edna had worked for over 20 years at the Community Health Center as an aide in the Dietary Department, retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Quincy. Edna enjoyed bowling on a league for many years and was an avid bingo player. Most of all Edna was a dedicated mother to her own children, as well as many others.
Edna is survived by her children LaVerne (Willa) Buys of Willis TX, Beverly (Roy) Schaeffer of Union City, Gale Buys of Ypsilanti, Joyce Buys of Coldwater, Duane (Sue) Buys of Billings, MT, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great - great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Kenneth, Rex, Dale, Dorothy & Betty, her grandsons Rex Buys and Shawn Wells and her great grandson Billy Dolbee. A special thank you to Dr. Mark Kallus who not only took the very best care of Edna, but of her family as well.
