Esther, the youngest of three daughters, was born February 25, 1921 in rural Branch County, Michigan to Don and Ina Moser. She married Dr. Ronald E. Hover on September 4, 1947 in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2000. Esther resided in Burr Oak and Bronson (Gilead Lake) for many years. She and her husband had also lived in Venice, Florida after Dr. Hover retired in 1979 from his medical practice in Burr Oak. She returned to Quincy in 2001 and moved from there to Spring Arbor in 2004.
As a teenager, she resided in Coldwater where she was employed by Tibbits Theatre and was a 1941 graduate of Coldwater High School. She also worked for the Michigan Associated Telephone Company in southern Michigan before her marriage. She was office manager for her husband’s medical practice for over 30 years and enjoyed the friendships with their clientele in northern Indiana and southern Michigan; they often made house calls together.
Esther was active in Eastern Star, including Worthy Matron, Burr Oak chapter 1957-59 and had served on the library board in Burr Oak for several years. Family & Shrine events and trips were special memories for her. She felt great pride in her family and enjoyed cooking and baking for them…especially making monster cookies for her grandchildren. Playing cards with friends and family and trips to the beach in Florida during the winter months were favorite activities.
