Ruth E. Johnson, 91, of Bronson, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Drew’s Place of Coldwater.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Rev. James Heitger officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 5 -7:00 PM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home. A private interment will take place at a later date.
Ruth was born July 13, 1922 in South Bend, IN to Charles & Mary (Ormsby) Frederick. She married Elwood “Jack” Johnson on October 13, 1938, he preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Johnson was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She had also worked for Douglas Manufacturing during WWII. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Branch Co. and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Bronson. She taught both Sunday school and bible school and was involved with the UMC Women’s Group. Ruth enjoyed a variety of crafts and crocheting and was an avid reader.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Diane Heitger of Bronson, her brother Robert Frederick of Middlebury, IN, her son-in-law Joseph (Joanie)Fisher of Bronson, her grandchildren Kevin(Laura) Heitger, James (Adrienne) Heitger, John (Robin) Fisher, Anne (Ralph) Milliman, Elizabeth Fisher, 14 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Janice Fisher, her sisters Dorothy Harrison, Gladys Johnson, her brothers Arnold, Harvey ”Junior”, Donald Frederick and her son-in-law Leo Heitger.
