William N. “Bill” Abbott, 76, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 1:00PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at Mason Cemetery in Coldwater. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday, beginning at 10:00AM at the funeral home.
Bill was born June 24, 1936 in Garrett, Indiana to Vernon and Frances (Johnson) Abbott. He married Edith Schnelker on September 1, 1956 in New Haven, Indiana. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2004.
Mr. Abbott served honorably with the U. S. Navy, having visited both polar caps while he was in the military. He had been a Branch County resident since 1979 and had worked for 27 years as a truck driver for Roadway Express, retiring in 1995. Bill enjoyed stock car racing in the Midwest and working on race cars.
Bill is survived by his sons Jeffery (Debbie) Abbott of Woodburn, IN, Kevin (Sarah) Abbott of Coldwater, his daughter Jennifer (Ed) Mileski of Ionia, his brother David (Rozann) Abbott of Ft. Wayne, IN, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Edith, he was preceded in death by his parents.
