Obituary for George D. VanHorn

George D. VanHorn, 75, of Bronson, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson.
George was born July 29, 1936 in Burlington, MI to Charles & Loretta (Neller) VanHorn. He married Joyce Jean (DeMeritt) on August 10, 1975. She preceded him in death in March 2000.
Mr. VanHorn worked for Bronson Plating, Booth Poultry in Orland, IN and Randy Ludwick Auctions. He was an outgoing “people person” who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and enjoyed spending his mornings drinking coffee at McDonald’s in Bronson. He also enjoyed making breakfast many mornings with his daughter, grandson and his friend Jamie Watt.
George is survived by his daughters Dawn VanHorn and her fiance Jamie Watt of Bronson, Karen (Tony) Counts of Henderson, KY, his son Carl Ferguson of Angola, IN, grandchildren Zakee VanHorn, Kellee Counts, Kerri Hohman, great grandchildren Alexis & Scott Hohman, his adopted daughter Brandy Herendeen and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Rich Kolassa and Randy Ludwick.


George was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Ann VanHorn, on November 1, 1993.
