Obituary for Sandra A. Vallance

Sandra A. Vallance, 78, of Coldwater, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at her home.


A service for Sandra will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Snow Prairie Cemetery in Bethel Twp. Visitation will be on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 5 – 8:00 PM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home.


Sandra was born February 9, 1934 in Sturgis, MI to Stark and Frances Wines. She graduated from Burr Oak High School. Sandra married Robert Bucknell in the early 1950’s, he preceded her in death in 2001, she then married Rolland L. Vallance on May 25, 2003 in Arizona.


Mrs. Vallance had been a resident of Bronson nearly all of her life and attended the First United Methodist Church in Bronson, she later attended the Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. At one time she was owner of a dress shop in Bronson, through the years had worked at Douglas Components, the J.C. Penney store in Battle Creek where she was manager and had also driven bus for Bronson Schools. Sandra enjoyed her time in Arizona and had wintered there for 15 years. She loved to knit, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and president of the Auxiliary in Bullhead, AZ.

Sandra is survived by her husband Rolland, her children, Robert (Cindy) Bucknell, Jr. of Portage, LuAnn (Donald) Osborne of Coldwater, James (Rica) Bucknell of Williams, TX, stepchildren, Kathleen (John) Summey of Bronson, Kenneth (MaryAnn) Vallance of Bronson, Rollie (Terry) Vallance of Burr Oak, many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.


In addition to her 1st husband, Robert Bucknell, she was preceded in death by her step-son Lyle Vallance in 2009.
