Obituary for Michael Easterday

Michael D. Easterday, 63, of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Allegiance Hospital in Jackson.

A private family service will be on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Oak Grove Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Harold Jewell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. A public visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Michael was born in Coldwater, Michigan to Lawrence D. and Marjorie (Thompson) Easterday. He was preceded in death by his birth father and was raised by Robert Borland. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1967 and married Cheryl Ann Patton on July 12, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War where he was a mechanic.

Michael had worked for Federal Mogul for 30 years, which took him from Coldwater to Piedmont, AL and then to Frankfort, IN where he spent 20 years of his life. He then moved to Logansport, IN and for the past 13 years he has resided in Marshall, MI. After his career with Federal Mogul, he purchased Camshaft Machine Company in Jackson. He has owned and operated the business since 2002.

Mr. Easterday was a generous and loving grandfather who will be missed by his family. He loved the outdoors, fishing, trips out west and collecting guitars and banjos. He will be remembered for his work ethic and his straight forward, get things done attitude that made him unique.

Michael is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his children Leslie “Bug” (Jason) Burks of West Lafayette, IN, Patrick (Jessica) Easterday of Rossville, IN and Chris Easterday of Coldwater, his parents Robert and Marjorie Borland of Anniston, AL, his sisters Jane (Roger) Maddox and Jill (Ralph) Teasley, both of AL and his grandchildren Kara, Leah and Maya Burks and Adam and Evan Easterday.
